# 01 — Product Overview

> **What it is, who it's for, how it makes money, and why it exists.**

---

## The one-liner

**SwoleX is the workout app where every post is executable.** Log a lift, share it to a feed, and anyone who follows you can tap **I GOT THIS** to run your exact session — with weights auto-scaled to their strength by Kevin, the AI coach inside the app.

> *Strava + Instagram + Fitbod for lifters.*

---

## The core insight

Every other lifting app treats a workout log as **archived data**. SwoleX treats it as **executable content**.

When you post a workout to SwoleX, it's not a screenshot. It's a live template. A friend, a follower, or a stranger from the discovery feed can tap **I GOT THIS** and immediately begin the same session — with weights that **Kevin** has already scaled to *their* strength, not yours. Their completion threads back to your original post as social proof: *"Danny crushed your Gauntlet."*

That's the loop:

> **Log → Share → Someone else runs it → Their completion echoes back to your post → They share their result → Their followers see it → New users.**

It's the social-fitness flywheel that Strava built for runners, applied for the first time to lifting — but with an AI scaling layer that makes "your friend's workout" actually doable by *you*.

## Who it's for

### Primary audience — Lifters who actually train

The user who has been logging in Notes, FitNotes, Strong, or Hevy for months or years. They:

- Know what a drop set, superset, and RPE are
- Care about progressive overload, not just step counts
- Watch lifting content on Instagram / TikTok / YouTube
- Have a "gym crew" — irl or online — they compare lifts with
- Are tired of either (a) clinical logging apps with no community, or (b) social apps that aren't built for lifting

### Secondary — Coaches and program creators

Personal trainers, online coaches, fitness influencers. SwoleX gives them:

- A directory + public profile to be discovered
- A program builder (with optional AI assist)
- Stripe Connect payouts (creators set their own prices)
- Analytics on who's running their workouts

### Tertiary — Brand-new lifters seeded into a creator's roster

When a creator/trainer onboards a new client, that client doesn't need to know anything. **Kevin scales every set.** They tap a workout, they lift, they get better. The trainer sees their progress without scheduling weekly calls.

---

## The product surface, at a glance

SwoleX ships on **iOS, Android, and Web** with three distinct user "workspaces" sharing one account:

| Workspace | Who it's for | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| **Member** | The lifter — log, share, browse, do workouts | Mobile app (primary) + `swolex.com/account` |
| **Creator** | Publish programs to the public, earn via Stripe | `swolex.com/console` |
| **Trainer** | Manage a private client roster, assign programs, write notes | `swolex.com/console/trainer` |

One login. One identity. Switch workspaces from the same account.

## The five flagship moments

These are the "show, don't tell" demos. Every video, ad, landing page, and pitch deck should anchor on at least one.

### 1. **AI WORKOUT** — tap a button, get a full session

Open the app → **+ → AI WORKOUT** → answer "how long, what muscle, how do you feel" → Kevin returns a full session: exercises picked from your gym's equipment, weights scaled to your real strength, supersets if you've toggled them on, drop sets when they fit, rest times calibrated to your goal. Push **Start**, train.

### 2. **DO WORKOUT** — your friend's lift, your weights

See "@oldfatstrongguy posted **THE ARM GAUNTLET** — 5 exercises · 39.7k lbs · 57m." Tap **CHALLENGE ACCEPTED**. The workout loads, Kevin has already rounded every weight to *your* plate math, and you're lifting in under 10 seconds.

### 3. **Share Card** — your completion as a story-ready post

Finish a workout → auto-generated portrait share card with your stats, the workout name, the creator credit, and a *Follow me on SwoleX @handle* CTA. One-tap to IG Story, TikTok, Snap, X, or iMessage. The card deep-links anyone who taps it back to the original workout — which they can then run themselves.

### 4. **Training Report** — Kevin grades your training

Open Progress → AI Coach → pick a period (30d, 90d, 6m, all-time) and a scope (all / upper / lower). Kevin returns: a trainer-style letter grade, calibration verdict ("you're lifting at 92% of your true capacity for hypertrophy — push closer to 100% next block"), muscle balance, plateau detection, top 3 recommendations. Export as PDF.

### 5. **Injuries that the AI actually respects**

Add an injury → pick the body region → answer three questions (prevents training? persists through warmup? OK with light load?). Kevin reads that as **per-region directives** in every future generation: a lower-back injury auto-substitutes loaded hip-hinges for chest-supported rows. Not a free-text note that gets ignored. Real constraints.

## How it makes money

| Tier | Price | What it unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| **Free** | $0 | Unlimited logging, 150+ exercises, social feed, sharing, basic charts, **1 AI workout/week** |
| **Pro** | **$9.99/mo** or **$79.99/yr** | Unlimited Kevin (workout gen, weight scaling on shared workouts, training analysis), 1,000+ exercises, advanced analytics, CSV export, custom rest sounds, premium programs |
| **Trainer** | **$29/mo** (7-day free trial) | **Unlimited clients**, client analytics, assign programs, AI reports, trainer console — and **all Pro features for the trainer themselves**. Billed via Stripe (not IAP). |
| **Creator (standalone)** | **Free, application-based** | Publish programs to the public catalog without a Trainer sub. Manual approval to keep catalog quality high. |

**Notes:**
- **Trainer = Creator + clients.** The Trainer subscription auto-includes Creator access — publish programs publicly, run private clients, both from one subscription. The free standalone Creator path is for publishers who don't manage clients.
- **Clients use SwoleX free.** A Trainer's clients don't need Pro — the $29/mo carries the relationship. They get the full free tier (logging, history, PRs, social, share cards).
- **Revenue split: 85% creator / 15% SwoleX** on paid programs and creator subscriptions. Stripe Connect pays creators directly on Stripe's normal schedule.
- Programs can be `free`, `premium` (requires active Pro), or `paid` (one-time, independent of Pro).
- Free is intentionally generous. Sharing is *always* free; it's our growth engine.

## The growth flywheel

```
Coach Ryan posts "The Gauntlet" → 30 of his IG followers download SwoleX & do it
                ↓
Each completion auto-generates a share card → posted to IG/TikTok/Snap
                ↓
Card deep-links to the workout → new users land directly on "The Gauntlet"
                ↓
They tap I GOT THIS → Kevin scales it to them → they train
                ↓
Their completion threads back to Ryan's original post → Ryan's credibility climbs
                ↓
More creators see Ryan winning → join SwoleX as Creators → publish programs
                ↓
Repeat.
```

This is the **executable content** loop. It's why every screenshot in the marketing should show the **I GOT THIS** / **CHALLENGE ACCEPTED** button under a workout card. That button *is* the product.

## Why now

1. **Strong** plateaued at "spreadsheet with a UI." No social. No AI.
2. **Hevy** is the polished default but has no executable content and a passive AI Coach.
3. **Fitbod** has AI but no community, no social, no "your buddy's workout."
4. **JEFIT** is community-heavy but the UX is from 2014.
5. **Trainerize / TrueCoach** are B2B-only — no consumer social layer.

Nobody owns "social fitness with AI." SwoleX is positioned to.

Meanwhile, lifting content on TikTok / IG Reels is the largest fitness content category, and there's no app that **bridges the screen-time → gym-time gap** the way SwoleX's deep-linked share card does. Other apps end the loop at the gym. SwoleX continues it back to the feed, to share cards, to new downloads.

## What we will *not* do

Be explicit so we don't drift:

- ❌ **Not a calorie/nutrition tracker.** No food logging. (Apple Health and MyFitnessPal own that lane.)
- ❌ **Not a recovery / HRV / sleep app.** That's Whoop / Oura / Apple Fitness+ territory.
- ❌ **Not a yoga / Pilates / mindfulness app.** Lifters only — for now.
- ❌ **Not a B2B-only PT tool.** Trainer tier is consumer-facing and exists *inside* the social product.
- ❌ **Not a wellness brand.** No essential oils, no "find your why," no soft language.

Saying "no" to these defines the brand as sharply as saying "yes" to the executable feed.

## The current product, in one screen

The live tab bar (as of 1.0.9):

```
[ Feed ]  [ + LOG FAB ]  [ History ]  [ Programs ]  [ Profile ]
                                                              └─ Kevin lives here too (Training Report)
                            └─ AI WORKOUT button is the first tile when you tap +
└─ "FOLLOWING / AT YOUR GYM / NEW" segmented at top, every card has I GOT THIS or CHALLENGE ACCEPTED
```

The whole product is reachable in two taps. That's by design — gym minutes are precious; nothing about SwoleX should waste them.
