Getting started
The first 5 minutes
What SwoleX is, how the free tier compares to Pro, and how to log your first workout.
What is SwoleX?
SwoleX is a workout tracker for lifters built around three ideas:
- Kevin, your AI strength coach, builds workouts calibrated to your actual strength and writes you a graded training analysis every week.
- One-tap imports from Strong, Hevy, Fitbod, and FitNotes mean you never lose your training history when you switch apps.
- Every workout is a share card on your feed — your followers can tap it and run the same session, automatically scaled to their strength.
The free tier covers unlimited logging, history, PRs, and the social feed. Pro ($9.99/mo) unlocks unlimited Kevin and his training analysis.
How is the free tier different from Pro?
Free gives you the full logging experience, no credit card needed:
- Unlimited workout logging
- 150+ exercises, full history, PRs, volume charts
- Social feed, share cards, and the rest timer
- One Kevin-built workout per week
Pro ($9.99/mo or $79.99/yr) adds:
- Unlimited Kevin-built workouts (instead of one/week)
- Kevin's weekly training analysis — letter grade, calibration verdict, balance audit, action plan
- Automatic weight scaling when you run someone else's shared workout
- Access to premium programs published on SwoleX
You can subscribe in-app any time. Cancel from Apple Subscriptions / Play Subscriptions — we never touch your card. See Account, Pro & billing for the cancel flow.
How do I create my first workout?
Open the Log tab. You'll see three starting points:
- AI WORKOUT — Tell Kevin your target muscle group, time available, and how you're feeling. He builds a complete session in seconds, pre-scaled to your strength.
- NEW WORKOUT — Pick exercises and weights yourself. Good if you're already mid-program or following a printout.
- FROM HISTORY — Repeat a workout you've done before (or one shared by someone you follow). Weights pre-scale to your current strength automatically.
There's no setup screen between you and the first lift — start logging sets immediately and your history starts building from session one.
What's the Fitness Profile and should I fill it out?
The Fitness Profile is where Kevin learns about you. Six sections, each one optional, each one makes him sharper:
- Training Level — biases prescriptions for newer lifters (lighter weights, more form cues) or veterans (heavier anchors, intensity techniques).
- Training Goal — strength, size, conditioning, or general fitness. Shapes rep ranges, rest times, and exercise selection.
- Strength Profile — 5-rep max numbers for the big lifts. Starting anchors only; as you log workouts, Kevin learns your real strength and overrides these.
- Capabilities — bodyweight maxes (push-ups, pull-ups, dips) and what you can't do yet. Keeps Kevin's picks realistic — no programming push-ups if you can't do one.
- Preferences — training days per week, preferred equipment, machine style (plate-loaded vs selectorized), intensity techniques you like (supersets, drop sets).
- Injuries & Limitations — structured directives Kevin reads on every build. A lower-back injury swaps loaded hip-hinges for chest-supported rows automatically.
You can fill it out during onboarding, edit any section any time from Profile → Fitness Profile, or skip the whole thing and let Kevin learn from your logged training. Most lifters fill it as they go. Full Kevin docs.
How do I add my gym (and why?)
Your gym's equipment is one of the most important things Kevin reads — he never suggests an exercise you can't do at the gym you're training in.
From Profile → My Gyms → Add Gym:
- Search by zip code. If your gym is in our directory, equipment pre-fills from verified community data. Some gyms ship with 80+ exact items already on file — Olympic Barbell, Power Rack, Smith Machine, cables, every machine.
- Set up manually. If your gym isn't in the directory, pick from 174 equipment types grouped by Free Weights & Benches, Plate-Loaded Machines, Cable, Selectorized, and Specialty.
You can add multiple gyms (commercial + home + travel) and pick which one's active on a per-workout basis. Or toggle Bodyweight only in the AI Workout screen for hotel-room training.
What are milestones?
When you finish a workout, SwoleX checks if you crossed any meaningful thresholds and unlocks milestones in batches. Your first workout, your first ten-thousand-pound volume day, your first PR, your fifth PR in a single session — all land at once on the OWNED IT screen.
They're mostly there as a record — screenshot, share, or just dismiss. Nothing to grind for, no daily streaks, no notifications begging you to log.
